Primitiv was founded by Calvin Johnson Jr. and Rob Sims, former NFL Detroit Lions teammates who share a deep passion for wellness and innovation. Inspired by their personal experiences with the physical and mental tolls of professional football, they created Primitiv to harness the healing power of cannabis.

Born from the determination and grit of Detroit, their mission is to craft products that inspire wellness while changing perceptions of cannabis. Their vision, born from the locker room and carried into the cannabis industry, is reflected in every product Primitiv offers and within the walls of their dispensaries.

When Primitiv decided to expand its brand to Boston, Calvin and Rob reached out to their former teammate, Gosder Cherilus who has deep roots in greater Boston, to operate the group’s downtown location (200 High Street). Products include its flagship Primitiv brand and TURF – offering guests a variety of quality cannabis flower, pre-rools, gummies and concentrates.

Our 12,000 square foot grow facility has over 3,600 square feet of canopy space with the ability to cultivate more than 2,000 plants at any given time. This state-of-the-art facility, one of the most sophisticated in Michigan, utilizes specifically engineered systems to precisely control every stage of the cultivation process.

This type of engineered control coupled with our teams’ vast amount of technical experience is how we are able to produce Primitiv’s ultra-premium, high quality Cannabis.
